Johansen signs with Ockelbo HC

Patrick Johansen Signs with Ockelbo HC for the 2026–27 Season
Swedish Hockey Club Adds Norwegian Goaltender with Previous Ties to Coach Brule
Ockelbo HC has added Norwegian goaltender Patrick Haverstad Johansen to its roster for the upcoming 2026–27 season, giving the club another talented option between the pipes as it prepares for the new HockeyTvåan campaign.
Johansen, a 21-year-old goaltender from Fredrikstad, Norway, brings international experience and a strong development background to Ockelbo. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 187 pounds, the left-catching goaltender developed through the Stjernen Hockey system before making the move to North America.
His North American experience included stops with the Ontario Hockey Academy U18, WB/Scranton Knights, and Chicago Crush. During the 2023–24 season with the WB/Scranton Knights, Johansen posted an impressive .936 save percentage and 1.88 goals-against average over seven regular-season appearances. He followed that season with Chicago, appearing in 16 games during the 2024–25 campaign.
Johansen spent the 2025–26 season with Söderhamn/Ljusne HC in Sweden before making the move to Ockelbo HC. His transfer to Ockelbo was confirmed on September 20, 2026.
A Familiar Connection
The move to Sweden also reunites Johansen with a familiar hockey connection in Coach Eric Brule, who has worked with the young goaltender previously in his development.
For Brule, seeing a former player continue his career in professional hockey is a rewarding part of the development process and placement.
“Patrick is a goaltender I have had the opportunity to work with previously, and I have always believed in his potential,” said Brule. “He has put a lot of work into his development, and this opportunity with Ockelbo HC is another important step in his career. I am very happy to see him continue to pursue his goals and compete at a high level in Sweden.”
Johansen's progression from Norway to North America and now into Swedish hockey reflects the type of international development path that continues to create opportunities for young players and goaltenders.
Looking Ahead
Ockelbo HC enters the 2026–27 season competing in HockeyTvåan Region Väst A. Johansen joins a goaltending group that also includes John Morelius and Frode Huss Sundström.
For Johansen, the upcoming season represents another opportunity to establish himself in Swedish hockey, gain valuable experience and continue developing his game.
For those who have followed his development from his time in North America, including Coach Brule, his move to Ockelbo is another significant milestone in a young career that continues to move forward.
Congratulations to Patrick Johansen on signing with Ockelbo HC for the 2026–27 season.
